A new facility that will provide therapy for disabled children by providing an interactive landscape and two support buildings. An existing Seattle Parks shelter building that was built by the WPA will be rehabilitated. A new structure, modeled on a garden shed, will house a working kitchen, activity area, restroom and storage. The new building features a glazed wall that opens completely to the garden so that the children can interact with the outdoors. Both buildings will be ADA accessible, use Sustainable building materials and feature a rain-water retention system. January 2008 Update: The first step in construction for the PlayGarden began late last year with the abatement of lead paint and asbestos in the Shelter House. The Shelter House will undergo continuing improvement in the next couple of months. The Seattle Children's PlayGarden is currently looking for donors to help fund the rehabilitation of the Shelter House and the construction of the new Garden House and play area.
